My collective body of work reflects my love and pursuit of the beautiful emotions in life; specifically in the eyes of children and women. We've all heard that "the eyes are the window to the soul." I am compelled to somehow capture this window in my portraits. At the same time, I strive to evolve by experimenting with various techniques, styles and media.
Inspired by the masters -- currently Pollock, De Kooning, Picasso and others -- I have been using various techniques to create very modern, abstract works with oils, acrylics, industrial enamels, oil pastels, graphite and other media. These color-filled, abstract panels and canvases are readily apparent in my most recent series, "dress-forms". By taking these wildly abstract designs and confining them to the form of a woman's dress, I discover and capture a personality as unique and intriguing as one woman from another.
The haunting eyes of a child from a distant culture... the unspeakable beauty of a figure study... an abstract collision of colors taking the form of a garment being worn. Take the time to look into the "eyes" -- or the heart -- of the paintings. If you will see beyond a mere piece of decor, perhaps you will find something of the beauty of the story of life...the story of us and God and everything.
Enjoy.
